Case study: The Klamath River Tribes

The Klamath River Tribes of are: the Hoopa, the Karuk, the Klamath and the Yurok. The tribes live along the length of the Klamath River, which flows through Southern Oregon and Northern California.

The Tribes are campaigning for the removal of four hydro-electric dams, which block over 350 miles of historic salmon spawning grounds and have caused a massive decline in salmon numbers on the river. The Tribes have relied on the return of the salmon each year for subsistence food and for their good health. The salmon also plays an important part in their culture and traditions.

The Tribes campaign brings them to Scotland each year and Portable PR personnel assist the Tribes with media and public relations and event organisation services.
